A wooded bridal portrait

What could be more beautiful than a gorgeous couple in a naturally stunning location. Amidst the Okanagan trees, just before the bloom, I had the opportunity to photograph a bridal shoot with Sophie and Connor.

S+ C have been married for a few years now, and were the perfect couple to model for the shoot. I was hoping to create some images that focused on the natural surroundings of the woods, but adding in a few details that could be easy to incorporate into any wedding shoot. Having a simple bottle of frizzante to enjoy a celebration drink, a blanket and a few throw pillows to snuggle on the forest floor, some beautiful fresh cut tulips, and some simple details picked up from Home Sense.

To top off Sophie’s wedding dress, she wore a beautiful Sweet Lollie hair piece and some vintage pearls around her neck. Connor had a classic black suit with vest by Urban Outfitters and a skinny black tie.

Here is the final result of this project, and I couldn’t be more excited. Hope you enjoy!

Andrea + Ken Married

She was calm, she was stunning, she was ready to marry the man she would spend her life with. Andrea and her closest of friends and family spent this last Saturday morning preparing for what will be one of the most important days of Ken and Andrea’s lives.

Ken and his groomsmen arrived early to the hotel with flowers in hand. They completed their final touches before heading downstairs to the beautiful ceremony site at The Cove in West Kelowna. Ken was looking quite dapper in his classic suit, and even though he may have felt a few butterflies, he looked ready and excited to see his bride-to-be.

As they said their I do’s, as they shared their first kiss as husband and wife, as they toasted champagne and enjoyed the company of loved ones, through the entirety of the day, I could see the respect and commitment they have for each other. The love they have been working on for the past 8 years, is strong and true, and I can only imagine what great places their love will go in the future.

Ken and Roxy, thank you for inviting us to be a part of your wedding day, and I wish you nothing but the absolute best in your years together as husband and wife.

french bread

Last night, Ryan and I enjoyed some homemade (not me-homemade, but my momma-homemade) turkey soup with french bread and havarti cheese. As I’m finishing off my last bite of creamy, cheesy bread, it sent me running to Pinterest to look up anything parisian. Anything french.

I came across some of the most gorgeous images of one of my favorite cities, and some of the most beautifully inspired interior design. With no further ado, I need to introduce you to my new favorite blog, Dreamy Whites. This is a french farmhouse inspired living blog, that has done exactly that. Inspired me. The following images are all found from this blog, and they are ahhh-mazing. You can also follow them on Facebook here!

And this next image is a fine art photograph from an Etsy store. A Montreal photographer called Eye Poetry. Such beautiful work…

And this last image is also from Dreamy Whites, but is my perfect french outfit to stroll the farmer’s market or have coffee on a patio, laughing and talking in french.

Hope everyone has a lovely long weekend!

in the fields

Trying to choose my favorite 10 images from this shoot was so hard! Rachel is my fashion guru. And I’m sure you can understand why. On my trip to Calgary, Rachel and I thought it would be fun to drive a baby-stroller full of clothes and accessories (yes, this girl has 2 children – and no, I don’t know how she does it) down into the wilderness where we set up shop after 4-wheeling it into this open field.

We had so much fun, just being completely creative and free with the shoot.

Rachel is a make-up artist, and I am encouraging her to get into being a stylist. Her eye for fashion and great finds is incredible. During my stay, she took me shopping, and we hit up the most fabulous stores. An Art Market that I absolutely fell in love with full of Etsy stores and amazing hand-made pieces! Then we walked down the street and found the best consignment stores(Peacock and Trends) full of beautiful, beautiful clothing.

I walked away from Calgary with a seriously amazing new wardrobe (many pieces from the Rachel-closet), and I haven’t stopped wearing them since, especially this beautiful vintage-styled clock necklace that I think I have worn every day since it became mine.

So, with no further ado, here is just a taste of our shoot.

White sweater-tunic – Free People

White Scarf – a unique find from the island of St. Barts

Purple floral  wrap dress – Vintage find

Make-up products- MAC cosmetics

entering my 30's

That’s it folks. Yes, as of yesterday at 3:30pm, I am officially no longer in my twenty’s. And admittedly, I was a little hesitant about the whole thing, but since there is no turning back, I figured, let’s start this year out with a bang! And my family and friends sure did not disappoint in that area. As I look back over these photos from my surprise party on Saturday night, I can’t tell if they love me, or they love me not.

But thankfully, I’ll always know that Ry is always going to be two years older, so that always makes me feel better! xoAnd for those that know about my love of skating and Kurt Browning, you will understand the true amazingness of this homemade card, compliments of Christina (and a little help with the ‘style from my two brothers…aren’t they sweet?). And don’t forget to notice the attention to detail…the ‘Senior Citizens’ Championship’? Really? Really?

If we can be serious for a quick second, I truly had the most wonderful weekend being completely spoiled by my husband, my family and friends. Thank you all for being such a huge part of my life, and I love you all to pieces!

another year

Each year on Ry’s birthday, I always want to do everything I can to make it special for him. Not because I think I have to, but because he deserves it, and I would give him the world if I could.

I am always looking for the right words to tell him just how much I appreciate him and how much I adore him, but they never seem to add up to what I feel inside. What I hope, is that through the snuggles, the kisses, the words and our unspoken language, that he can see + feel how much he means to me.

You are irreplaceable in my life, and I love you with all that I am. Happy birthday Ry-guy, xo
