gabi + james married

As Gabi walked down the aisle with her mom and dad at her side, it was written on James’ face how happy he truly was. As James read his vows to Gabi, the tears that welled up in her eyes told us the story of her love for him. It was a beautiful ceremony, followed by a kickin’ reception on the shores of Okanagan Lake. With a canoe filled with beer, a 4 piece band, beautiful details and the love of friends and family, I knew they were in for a great night.

The wedding was held at Gabi’s parents home in Kelowna. They incorporated local wines from the surrounding wineries, Cabana catering used local ingredients for a fresh, locally inspired meal, and Gabi’s earrings were designed by a jeweller at the farmer’s market. I admire their passion for the environment, their love for mother nature and the way they put those details into their day was very special. And to top it off, Gabi snuck James’ tie before their wedding day and hand-stitched her own label of love on the back. Congratulations you two, and we thank you for having us along on your day.

Loved the Toms shoes that Gabi wore throughout the day. Comfy and cute!  We made our way to St. Hubertus winery for a little wine tasting and a final few photos of J+G.Probably one of my faves from the day, simply because it was so funny. The dress was not cooperating, but Gabi is such a trooper, she made it happen!Beautiful details of fresh flowers and lavendar with wood and stone accents. To see more, watch the slideshow below.

diane + brent renewed

We all go through life and whether we like it or not, life changes. It changes every day, every hour, every minute. Sometimes, I almost feel a little out of control with all the changes that happen around me. And I think I’m not the only one…

Diane + Brent were married 5 years ago, and since then their lives have undergone many changes big and small, good and challenging. They’ve moved, they’ve had a beautiful baby girl, they’ve had some important new additions to their friend and family life, they had a baby boy, they bought a house, new passions, new jobs, new, new, new.

I think Diane was feeling wrapped up in all of this ‘movement’, and was searching for a way to calm the seas. So, she reached for the single thing in her life that she knows is always there. Her husband. Her support. And I think for the two of them, renewing their vows they made 5 years ago, was a way to remind each other that in an ever-changing world, the two of them are there to ground each other. To be the balance in life.

countdown

If you didn’t know, my big sister is gettin’ married in just over a month. And of course, us ladies had to do it up right to celebrate her fabulous single life… now that it is coming to an end!

We headed out to Seattle-town and enjoyed 3 nights of ladies only… and because this was her weekend, we donned her with a princess tiara, of course! We decorated with pops of yellow, especially to dress up our very own palm tree! And I couldn’t go without creating a photo booth. I just had to…The results were fabulous…

As we get closer and closer to the wedding day, I get more and more excited. She has found a great man and is planning an amazing party to celebrate their relationship. 37 days and counting!

allison + mark married

They flew all the way to our little valley from the big city of Toronto. They organized their closest family and dearest friends to join them at the beautiful resort of Sparkling Hill. Allison had the most perfect of dress with shoes to die for. She held the most perfect of bouquets made by the talented Christina of Classic Creations. Mark donned a handsome navy blue suit and fabulous striped socks.

It may not have been the most traditional wedding, but it sits among my favorite weddings that I’ve had the honor to be a part of. They may not call themselves romantics, but I know different.

Romance is not always about the big gestures or the extravagant choices. Romance sits in the moments when you know you are marrying a man who will care for you for a lifetime, whether you need him to or not. Romance is the simple holding of a hand, or a hand lightly on the back. Romance is making sure that you will be each other’s best friend until the end. And from what I could see on that special day on the hill, I think they’ve got all that and much more.

corrie + don married

Walking into the room, the hustle and bustle of six women all prepping for the big day was in full swing. Shoes were strewn across the bed, mirror space was being coveted, and the excitement of Corrie’s day had arrived.

As the girls finished prepping the bride-to-be for her first look with Don, we knew he would be waiting for her on the bridge.

Corrie walked up to Don, and with just a few tears shed(happy tears), the day had begun. We started at The Eldorado in Kelowna, but made our way up to the beautiful Summerhill Winery for the ceremony and celebration. So many of their family and friends had come down from their hometown of Prince George, you could feel the love and appreciation in the air. There was a lot of laughter, jokes (that I dare not repeat), a few tears and just a whole lot of fun.

to the man I snuggle into at night,
to the man who always smiles at my songs,
to the man who pushes me and pulls me when needed,
to the man who always listens to my heart,

I adore you. happy 3rd anniversary.

jenn + john married

Love never ceases to amaze me. And this love was no different. Jenn + John met at work, and now, years later, they have committed to each other, promising to work on their life together forever.

They were married at St Andrews by the Lake, and we took advantage of the shade on this hot okanagan day. J+J decided on a first look, and it was absolutely perfect. John waited for us under the willow trees, and as Jenn approached her husband-to-be, you could see the emotion written on her face. You could see the love written on her face. The rest of the day went along with ease, full of laughter, a few tears and a lot of beautiful moments.

wedding weekend

This weekend was THE weekend of the summer for us. With not just one fabulous wedding, but three. There are two reasons why I was able to make it through such a busy weekend (and it was no thanks to Mother Nature, who decided to give us a heat wave this weekend). First: I adore my job. I love what I do, and I feel lucky to do to what I do. Between the rush of prepping the bride, to the tears, to the laughter, to the unexpected twists and romantic moments, I love to be the person documenting one of the most important days in a person’s life.

Second reason, is my support. Ryan and I are coming up on our third anniversary this weekend, and I don’t think I can express how much he gives me on a wedding day. He is my shoulder to lean on, he is my bag holder, he is my errand-man, he is my second shooter. He is everything that I simply cannot be. So thank you to Ryan for being my rock on Saturday and Sunday! But, this past friday, Ry was unable to be there, so I had an AMAZING fill-in for the day, Amy from IvenKaye Photographics. Thank you Amy, you rocked it like nobody’s business!

Here is a little sneak of the fabulous three couples that I was lucky enough to spend my weekend with. Every day was so unique and so filled with love, I wouldn’t have had this weekend any other way.

graham + jenn married

Every love is different. Every love has its own ways to communicate and show itself. But this love, this is my favorite kind of love.

The kind of love that doesn’t hide behind a mask. The kind of love that is glowing and is all consuming. The kind of love that is so big it makes you cry. This is the love that Graham + Jenn share, and this is the love that inspires me to be the best wife I can be.

I try to keep it together at weddings. Even though I am an emotional girl, I think my camera is usually able to be my tear-blocker. But this day, my camera seemed to have it’s tear settings turned off. I adored being a part of every inch of this day. From the groom first seeing his bride, to her surprise puppy being the official ring-bearer, to the moving speeches from family and friends that didn’t leave a dry eye in the room.

Thank you J+G for being such an inspiration in love, and I feel blessed to have been a part of your day.
