danielle + mike married

The few days leading up to the wedding, the weather had us worried. But on the day of, the sun was shining and the rain held off. Danielle + Mike said their vows on the beaches of Lake Okanagan Resort, and it couldn’t have been a more beautiful day. With an intimate group of family and friends, D+M enjoyed the day to its fullest.

Mike and Danielle met four years ago, and when Mike asked D to marry him on Christmas Day in front of their family, she of course said yes! These two compliment each other so well, and I truly loved spending time getting to know this pair. They are Albertans, they love their family, they are ridiculous and thoughtful and I feel lucky to have been a small part of this wedding.

mark + janelle

This is a little different that my usual blogs. For this session, I wanted to step a little outside my box and try a few new things. Spread my wings a bit and have some fun.

These two I know. Mark is my big brother, and is getting married to this incredible girl, Janelle. We actually did a super-mini engagement session for them in December, when they officially got engaged. We went out to the actual spot where J said ‘yes’ in Hawaii and made sure to capture a few photos in the moment. It was really special, but for me, I wanted the chance to take them out for an evening and get photographs that were simply ‘them’. In their home-town, on their own turf. Mark has lived in Vancouver for over 10 years, creating music and loving the city. Janelle grew up here, and thankfully crossed paths with my brother many moons ago, and here we are today with just a few months left before they get married.

I’ve created a slideshow of this session, so I hope you enjoy. Marko and J, I adore you two and thank you so much for entrusting me with being your photographer. xo

marissa + peter engaged

‘When you know, you just know,’ said Marissa as we walked along the path. They met long distance, but it didn’t take long for Marissa to know he was a ‘good man’. They eventually were able to come together in Victoria, and now they are sharing their lives with each other, engaged to be married. Peter is in the Navy, and it makes my heart swell when I think of what he does, and what risks he’s willing to take to protect us as a country. I can only imagine how Marissa feels when she looks at him. They are planning their wedding for this August while Peter is here in Canada, as eventually he will be off sailing, and she will be sending him thoughts of love across the water.

I can’t wait for their wedding coming this summer, and I know they are going to cherish every moment together.

the bedard family

I can’t tell you how much I am in love with this set of photographs. This family has such a special place in my heart, and I am so very thankful they asked me to create these portraits for them.

Let me start from the very beginning… many moons ago, I met a boy named Ryan. I found him to be very, very cute. After only a few weeks of hanging out, Ry asked me if I wanted to meet him for some dancing at his cousin Tina’s wedding. Of course, I said yes. Not only do I love weddings, but I love dancing! And what I found out that night as I danced hand in hand with Ryan, is that I loved him too. That was the first night I realized I loved this man, and it was all because of Tina and Ron’s beautiful wedding….

Here we are 8.5 years later, and I now get to call these people MY family. I have watched them grow as a family and have seen their love grow bigger and bigger… if that’s even possible. Ella has just turned 5, Mitchell is 16 and driving, and Ron and Tina are still so supportive of each other and as you can see by these photos, love to be in each others’ arms.

And Tina didn’t want to miss out on having her mother with us for these photos. Jeanette is someone I consider to be a living, breathing angel. She is a confident, beautiful, loving woman. I only hope that I can live my life with even a sliver of the grace that she carries through life.

heather + scott engaged

The countdown has begun for Heather + Scott, with their wedding just over 5 weeks away. When you hear their story of how they met, how they fell in love, the proposal, the everything, it is hard not to believe in love at first sight. And when you watch them together, you can see the love they have for each other is a special kind of love…

We went up to Knox mountain for their photo session, and it was a perfect fit. Hikers at heart, I could tell these two felt comfortable on the mountainside. And what made it just a little more special, in the distance down the lake was the lookout where Scott actually proposed to Heather while hiking to one of their favorite spots overlooking the lake.

H+S, I am so looking forward to your wedding day, and I thank you for inviting me along…
